NosMienten
We compare what the media report with the data, and explain the why
Automated fact-checking newspaper: it groups the same story as told by dozens of outlets, checks their claims against official and open data, gives a true-or-fake verdict with the evidence linked and explains what each outlet leaves out and why things happen. In development.

Compare, don’t aggregate
NosMienten automatically crawls national, regional and local media, starting with Spain, and groups the same story as told by each outlet. Instead of repeating headlines, it lays them side by side: which figure each outlet gives, which fact it leaves out and where they contradict each other.
True or fake, with the evidence in front of you
The verifiable claims of each story (figures, dates, facts) are extracted and cross-checked with official and open data sources: Spain’s statistics office (INE), Eurostat, the World Bank, the official gazette (BOE) and GDELT, with more connectors per country. Every verdict links its evidence and states its confidence; when the data falls short, it says “not enough data”. The system never asserts anything without a source.
The why behind the news
A verdict is not enough: every piece explains the missing context, how the story changes depending on who tells it and which causes, decisions or interests lie behind it, from local politics to geopolitical influence in Europe. On-demand investigations into any question are planned, and a reliability index will measure each outlet against what it publishes.
Where it stands
It is already online: today it crawls 130 Spanish outlets every half hour and sorts their stories by category, region and outlet, honouring robots.txt and publishing only the headline, a short excerpt and the link. In development: the contrast engine and verdicts, per-outlet reliability, the operations dashboard, on-demand investigations, social media distribution and new countries and languages added without code. All automatically generated content is labelled as such.

Frequently asked questions
What is NosMienten?
An automated fact-checking newspaper. It crawls national, regional and local media, groups the same story as told by each outlet and checks it against official and open data to say what is true, what is false, what is missing and why.
How does it decide whether a story is true or fake?
It extracts the verifiable claims (figures, dates, facts) and cross-checks them with official sources such as INE, Eurostat, the World Bank, Spain’s official gazette (BOE) or GDELT. Every verdict links its evidence and states its confidence; when the data falls short, the verdict is “not enough data”. Nothing is ever asserted without a source.
What does analysing the why mean?
Beyond the verdict, every piece explains the context: which fact each outlet left out, how the story changes depending on who tells it and which causes, decisions or interests lie behind it. On-demand investigations into any question are also planned.
What stage is it at?
It is in development and already online: today it automatically crawls 130 Spanish outlets and sorts their stories by category, region and outlet. The contrast engine, evidence-backed verdicts, per-outlet reliability and on-demand investigations are the next phases.
